2024 HOPS HARE RAISIN’ NEWS

2024 was another busy year for H.O.P.S., with 334 incidents.  Breaking them down by municipality, Herrick 80, Orwell 74, Pike 38, Stevens 33, Warren 36, Windham 15, Leraysville Borough 14, and Middletown 1.  We assisted other EMS agencies with calls throughout eastern Bradford County in Asylum, Monroe, North Towanda, Rome, Rush, Standing Stone, Towanda, Ulster, Wyalusing, and Wysox.  While driving over 7,466 miles, our members put in over 1,200 person-hours on calls alone, not counting administrative time, meetings, training, and maintenance of the vehicles and building.  Our training for the community continued; we trained over 75 people in Stop the Bleed and over 50 people in CPR.  We hosted the Bradford County 4H First Responder Club several times and provided tours of the station for several organizations in our community.  It was a busy year!

In 2024, we received gifts as memorials for the following individuals: James Seipler, Gail Dull, Marilyn Nicosia, Phil & Rita Swetter, Mary Cobb, Millie Chamberlin, Chet Ostroski, Mike Edsell, Edna Welliver, Anna Mae Reeve, Janet Harnard and Laura Cooley.  We also received support from our townships: Herrick Twp $7,500, Orwell Twp $1,350, Pike Twp $20,000, Stevens Twp $13,000, and Leraysville Borough $1,500.  And from Bradford County, $10,000.

H.O.P.S. thanks our members for their continued monetary support through memberships, donations, and donations in memory of loved ones.  Without the community’s support, we could not do what we do.  Thanks to this support, we have ordered a new ambulance, which should be delivered in the spring of 2026.  This allows us to replace our aging ambulance and ensure both ambulances are 4×4 to reach our patients in adverse weather and conditions.

2025 marks 50 years of H.O.P.S. serving our community.  We continue the legacy of neighbors helping neighbors.  Thank you to all the past members who have spent many hours serving our community.  This dedication is what we strive to continue long into the future.

We are always looking for additional volunteers, especially volunteers available on weekdays, as this is our hardest time as most of our volunteers work full-time.  Anyone interested in volunteering at H.O.P.S. should contact Mark Fields at 570-744-1700 or email mark@hopsems.org.  There are many needs that you can help with!

Enclosed is the annual membership application to the H.O.P.S. Ambulance Association. Please consider purchasing a membership for yourself and your family. Insurance coverage does not always cover the total cost of a HOPS ambulance trip, which leaves a balance due. With a membership from HOPS, you eliminate that extra bill.  Your membership covers services provided by H.O.P.S. Ambulance Association only; any services provided by another EMS agency may be billed separately by that agency.  H.O.P.S. is not affiliated with any other ambulance association and is 100% VOLUNTEERS! We reserve the right for third-party billing.
